Problems with the ticket

I don't have a smartphone

If you don't have a smartphone with which you can use the ticket as a digital ticket, you can apply for a chip card at the semester ticket office. For more information, see here:

The S-Bahn app cannot be installed or opened on my smartphone

The mobile ticket only works on Apple iPhones from iOS version 16.7 and Android smartphones from version 8. If your smartphone is older than that, you cannot use the digital ticket. In this case, you will be issued a chip card at the S-Bahn customer office at Ostbahnhof if you present your smartphone and your ticket authorization in the form of the fee certificate (you can find this in the Zedat self-service, where you will also find your enrolment certificate).

My ticket still worked last month, but not anymore

- The ticket can only update itself for the new month if it is connected to the internet once and the ticket is updated in the app (by swiping down once).
- Log out of the app once and log in again.
- If this does not work, please contact the S-Bahn via the contact form: https://sbahn.berlin/kontakt/kontaktformular-deutschlandsemesterticket/.Diese is responsible for technical problems with ticket provision.

Why is my ticket only valid for one month?

The ticket is updated at the beginning of the month for the next month when you connect to the Internet, go to the ticket tab of the app once and swipe down to update.

I have another technical problem

For other technical problems, please contact the S-Bahn using the following contact form: https://sbahn.berlin/kontakt/kontaktformular-deutschlandsemesterticket/
The S-Bahn is responsible for the technical implementation of the ticket and can help with technical problems. As an office, we have nothing to do with the technology and therefore cannot help directly.

Who is actually responsible for what?

S-Bahn and VBB
    - The S-Bahn and VBB are responsible for providing the ticket. The S-Bahn is therefore responsible for technical problems with the provision of the digital ticket.
    - The ticket conditions are determined by S-Bahn Berlin and VBB. In some cases, they must adhere to the requirements of federal policy or the Berliner Hochschulgesetz (BerlHG).
Student Administration
    - The student administration ensures that the semester ticket fees are collected directly with the remaining tuition fees. After the amount has been received in full, it releases the ticket authorization.
Zedat
    - Zedat is responsible for the data transfer interface to the S-Bahn. When you log in to the S-Bahn app with your university login, all relevant data about your identity and ticket authorization is automatically transmitted to the S-Bahn.
AStA
    - As the political representative of the student body, the AStA signs the contract with the S-Bahn and the VBB. The AStA has no significant influence on the content of the contract, it can only decide either to accept the contract with the conditions presented and thus enable students to use the Deutschlandsemesterticket or not to do so, in which case there would generally no longer be a Deutschlandsemesterticket for students at the FU.
Semester ticket office
    - As Semtix, we are not responsible or responsible for the technical aspects of the ticket, the political decision to sign the contract or the content of the contract.
    - We are responsible for providing information on our website about the current ticket conditions and other current information about the semester ticket.
    - We are responsible for ordering chip cards for students without smartphones from the S-Bahn and issuing them to students upon receipt.
    - We are responsible for processing applications for exemption or subsidies and refunding the money to the relevant students.
