Entschuldigt das Warten. Lange hat‘s gedauert, nun ist es endlich wieder soweit: Nach fast einem Jahr Arbeit präsentieren wir euch die neue, die antifaschistische Ausgabe der Out of Dahlem. Widmen möchten wir dieses Heft Mahmud Azhar, einem Menschen, an den sich wohl nur sehr wenige erinnern. Azhar war Doktorand am Institut für Biochemie der FU Berlin, als er Anfang des Jahres 1990 auf dem Campus der Universität rassistisch angepöbelt und brutal zusammengeschlagen wurde. Zwei Monate später starb er an den Folgen seiner Verletzungen im Krankenhaus. Wir möchten mit dieser Ausgabe an ihn erinnern und darauf aufmerksam machen, dass Rassismus, ebenso wie andere Unterdrückungsverhältnisse, auch vor den Pforten der Universität nicht einfach halt machen. Um den Inhalt und somit auch die Geschichte Mahmud Azhars möglichst vielen Menschen zugänglich zu machen, erscheint die out of dahlem nun erstmals komplett in drei Sprachen. Neben der deutschsprachigen wird es auch eine französische und eine englische Ausgabe geben.
Am Ende dieses Editorials noch eine Triggerwarnung: In den Artikeln und Interviews geht es uns darum, aus emanzipatorischer – insbesondere feministischer, antirassistischer und antifaschistischer – Perspektive rechte, sexistische und rassistische Umtriebe an der Universität und anderswo zu dokumentieren und zu kritisieren. Dabei wussten wir nicht recht umhin, in einigen Artikeln auch Burschenschafter, Neu-Rechte, alte oder neue Nazis zu zitieren. Wir hoffen, euch dennoch eine informative, spannende und empowernde Ausgabe gestaltet zu haben!

Sorry for the wait. It took a long, now it‘s time again: After almost one year of work, we present you the new anti-fascist issue of the out of dahlem. We want to dedicate this issue to Mahmud Azhar, a person only very few remember. Azhar was a PhD student at the Institute of Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin, when he was insulted with racist taunts and brutally beaten up in early 1990 at the campus of the university. Two months later he died from his injuries in hospital. With this issue we want to commemorate and point out that racism - just like any other form of oppression - does not simply stop at the doorsteps of university. To make the story of Mahmud Azhar - as well as the our other contents - available for as many people as possible, out of dahlem is published in three diferent languages for the first time. There is a German, an English and a French edition of the magazine.
At the end of this editorial we want to add a trigger warning: The articles and interviews are about documenting and criticizing right-wing, sexist and racist activities or ideologies at university and elsewhere from an emanzipatory - especially feminist, anti-racist and antifascist-perspective. We couldn‘t help but quote right-wing student unions, ‚new rights‘ oder nazis in some articles. We still hope to have created you an informative, exciting and empowering issue!

Désolé pour l‘attente. Ça a duré longtemps, mais nous y sommes enin parvenus: après presque un an de travail, nous présentons la nouvelle édition consacrée à l‘ antifascisme de « Out of dahlem ». Nous dédions ces pages à Mahmud Azhar, dont peu d‘entre nous se souviennent encore. Azhar était doctorant à l‘Institut de Biochimie à la FU Berlin. Au début des années 90, il a été violemment pris à parti dans une altercation raciste et a été brutalement frappé. Deux mois plus tard, ils meurt à l’hôpital des suites de ses blessures.
Nous voulons avec cette édition lui rendre hommage, mais aussi attirer l‘attention sur le fait, que le racisme, comme toutes les formes d‘oppression,ne s‘arrête pas simplement aux portes de l‘Université. Pour que l‘histoire de Mahmud Azhar puisse toucher le plus grand nombre possible, Out of Dahlem parait pour la première fois entièrement en trois langues: en allemand, en français et en anglais. Encore une précision pour conclure cet éditorial : nos articles et interviews ont pour but , dans un perspective émancipatrice, féministe, antiraciste et antifasciste, d‘analyser et de critiquer les menées et activités sexistes, racistes et droitisantes à l‘Université et ailleurs. C‘est pour cela que nous ne pouvions pas, dans certains articles, omettre de citer, des membres de la nouvelle-droite ainsi que des anciens et des néo-nazis. Nous espérons toutefois avoir su créer un numéro passionnant, plein d‘informations, et source d‘empowerment.
